let’s catsup now that le deconfinement has started

I haven’t been posting. I was sick and le confinement in France was really restrictive by American standards (I wasn’t allowed to gather up a bunch of guns, put on a flag shirt, and a MAGA hat and then go into or in front of any government buildings to complain about not being allowed to go wherever I wanted), but things are getting better here and they’re dragging me with them. I had a relapse and got sick again while still enduring a toothache. It sucked and then after about seven weeks of being sick I think I am now finally better. The rules here relaxed on Monday (yesterday) to standards which are still pretty restrictive by American standards, but we feel very liberated. So of course it went ahead and rained all day yesterday after it hadn’t rained in a month. That was the second month of being stuck indoors. I dressed for the weather and walked for hours yesterday and it was awesome.

I went to the dentist this morning! One of my previous dentists had put a ceramic crown over a molar without doing a root canal first. I’ll get this sorted out over the next few weeks now that the dentists are going back to work. I could have gone to the emergency clinic before (if I could have found it), but I also struggled with spreading whatever other illness I probably had and not understanding the the system here well enough to fight to visit a temporary dentist when I clearly need a relationships with a few medical professionals. I now have some ‘scrip’s and the process has begun. BTW Americans, this would cost less here even if I was paying full price than any single visit I ever had in America with insurance. But I’m a legal resident with supplemental insurance, so it will cost very little.

There’s a lot more I need to write and some opinions I need to share, but I’ve had a few cold snacks this evening so it’s better if I write more later. Right now I need to get back on the internet and see if I can find a camper for our next adventure in Europe.

  1. So nice to hear from you and that you have survived to now! It is amazing that Ginger did not get sick also! Always thankful for many things. What are the France authorities saying about easing restrictions until there is another rise? Do they have tracing and monitoring protocols in place so that if an outbreak is detected, they can contain it?

  2. Germany is the best place in Europe for a camper purchase or rental, not France.

    1. Awesome! I really miss being a part of that competition. Even if I always came in second…

Thanks for the update – We are SO glad you are feeling better! Things here are definitely weird; we struggle to remain optimistic. I will be stealing your phrase “cold snack”. Cheers! KC
